Day Two

Day Two on the Road West (December 3, 2011)

This morning we rose to a crisp cold day in the Shenandoah Valley.  Before we left, we were greeted by the Managers of the Campsite who wished us safe travels onward.  Unfortunately, we had very little to provide them for their breakfast.  So they waddled on to the next campsite in search of tidbits.

Tonight we are SW of Charlotte, NC in Spartanburg, SC 325 miles SW from Staunton, Virginia.  It was a wonderful trip South through the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.  The Shenandoah Valley is beautiful with old farms with rolling hills and dotted with cattle along the way.  We passed Woodrow Wilson’s birthplace – a place to visit in the future.  The drive was a sharp contrast to this same time last year when we were driving the same highway Northward in a 4-inch snowstorm heading to New Jersey.
